If not, you might want to familiarize yourself with this investing strategy. Picking solid turnaround plays has allowed me to beat a tough market by a pretty handy margin. In fact, my top 10 turnaround stocks in 2001 generated an average return of 48.58%, solidly outperforming the S&amp;P 500 for the year. Some of my biggest winners include J.C. Penney , up 62% since I first highlighted it, and Office Depot , up 88% since I mentioned it.
