Not just an ordinary launch, but an offering to beat all offerings. The social network giant hopes (and probably will) to raise $10.6 billion.

That should spark a huge run on IPOs, right?

Not necessarily. In fact, there's a good chance it may make the rest of the IPO candidates out there now pale by comparison and a few reticent to launch at all.

NEW YORK (TheStreet --Carlyle Group Priced its IPO at $22.00, below the planned range of $23.00-$25.00 and traded up roughly seven cents after opening.

Carlyle Groupis always looking to sell out for a profit when it invests in companies. Now it's embarking on the ultimate exit plan with its own initial public offering.

After 25 years as a private equity company, Carlyle plans to lift the skirt and take itself public. Why? To pay off debt. However, if you dig through the related regulatory filing, you'll see that Carlyle will make money up one side and down the other in this deal.

Twitter claims it is worth $8 billion. So where does that leave the new kid on the block Pinterest? Well, it looks like you can pin $7.7 billion on your Pinterest board.

Pinterest is important because the traffic is growing and statistics are impressive. It is known for its magazine quality images. Pinterest is to artful images what Twitter is to artful words. What's more, Pinterest appeals to college-educated females between the ages of 25 to 44. A sweet demographic known for its spending decisions and habits.

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Restaurants remain one of the key areas for job gains in this slowing economic recovery, and the stocks have followed accordingly. Where there's hiring, there tends to be good earnings reports.

Drilling down even further, coffee stocks have also had a good run -- especially category killer Starbucks. Any restaurant even associated with coffee has performed well. So it becomes difficult to dig out that rare restaurant stock or coffee maker that hasn't already run up.

Well, hold on to your mug, because the coffee stocks are about to get even hotter.

This week's IPO calendar doesn't look to have the snap and crackle of last week's deals. No Annie's or Millennial Media to give the market a spark.

Instead, the line-up includes two companies that are dependent upon either government business or tax benefits, and one shopping center. Luca Technologies was supposed to go public last week, but now it's day-to-day. So it could either launch or get pulled.

Normally, alternative energy gets lots of IPO buzz, unless its solar, but now those offerings get dim interest. Enerkem turns poop into gas and that makes it decidedly less sexy than smartphone advertising. The company has technology that turns municipal waste (not the administrative kind) into ethanol. Unfortunately ethanol prices are -- dare we say it -- in the crapper. Plus, Enerkem has tax credits to the tune of $1.01 a gallon that are set to expire at the end of 2012. There is also a government mandate that 16 billion gallons of biofuel a year must be blended into the national transportation fuel supply. If that mandate ends, Enerkem would be hurt.

...

Initial public offerings have brought a new enthusiasm to the equity markets this week. Companies with brand-name recognition continue to resonate with the market, while other, less well-known companies seem to falter after the hoopla dies down.

Despite BATS very public IPO failure, 36 companies have launched successfully in the first quarter. Investors, though, have learned to jump in quickly. Many of these successful IPOs closed much higher than their offering prices, only to exhaust those early gains.

Yelp! was one of the companies which benefited from consumer recognition. It was priced at $15 earlier this month and closed on its first trading day at $24.58. It's now trading at roughly $28. Zynga, another fan favorite, priced its stock at $10 late last year, but dropped 5% the first day. It then climbed to a high of $12.56, only to pull back to $12.30. These trading patterns are teaching traders to get in early for these consumer-friendly names.

The IPOs with the most buzz this week are Rexnord and Millennial Media , and the two companies couldn't be more different from each other.

Rexnord is a leader in the decidedly unglamorous business of water management, while Millennial is in smartphone advertising.

Rexnord will be the largest deal on the calendar for the week as it hopes to raise $450 million through the sale of 23.7 million shares at $18 to $20 each. Some of the excitement about Rexnord is stemming from the success of Allison Transmissions' IPO as it seems investors are getting hungry for big industrial names.

The Cincinnati-based company, which processes more than 11.4 billion ATM and POS transactions and almost $400 billion in debit card and credit card sales each year, is seeking to raise $500 million through the sale of 29.4 million shares at $16-$18 each.

Vantiv plans to use the proceeds of the offering to pay down debt and reduce interest expenses. At the mid-point of its pricing range, Vantiv shares would have a price-to-sales ratio of 2.2X, in line with competitors like Fiserv and Global Payments.

Allison builds automatic transmissions for heavy-duty vehicles and was picked up from General Motors in 2007 by private-equity firms The Carlyle Group and Onex.

IPO Desktop President Francis Gaskins expects that it will be an institutional favorite and says it's a buy on the offering, even if it prices at less than the proposed range of $22-$24 a share.

The IPO market is certainly tilted towards online offerings, but some offerings from financials are on the way.

While Yelp, which compiles online reviews for local businesses, came out of the starting gate strong with a 63.9% return from pricing, the Cayman Island's Home Loan Servicing dropped 1.7%. Three financial sector companies are hoping to launch this week, bringing a focus on real estate and the mortgage market. Last week, Provident Mortgage opted to postpone its deal, highlighting the uncertainty facing financial initial public offerings.

An earlier version of this article stated Ocwen had yet to "pay back" TARP funds, but the type of funds the company received were incentive payments related to mortgage modifications that do not require repayment.

NEW YORK (TheStreet -- William Erbey had no problem taking taxpayer money when it came to TARP funds for Ocwen Financial, but he's going out of his way to avoid paying taxes with a new venture, Home Loan Servicing Solutions Ltd., which is looking to go public next week.

Erbey remains the executive chairman of Ocwen, which received $123 million in TARP funds in form of incentive payments related mortgage modifications. Home Loan Servicing, which Erbey has since founded, is looking to raise $200 million in its initial public offering, proposing to sell 13.3 million shares at $14-$16 each, and it plans to use the proceeds to do a little bailing out of its own by purchasing Ocwen's mortgage servicing business.

Lin-sanity has taken the country by storm and as a result created a spending frenzy that's benefiting a broad range of companies, tax rolls and even the stock market. Lin's salary this season is a modest (by NBA standards) $800,000, but by some calculations, he's turned into the $170 million man.

The most tangible impact has been on the market cap of Madison Square Garden , whose stock has jumped 7% to close Thursday at $31.87 from its close at $29.77 on Feb. 7 when Lin first entered the Knicks' starting lineup. That translates to a $170 million to the company's market cap to $2.4 billion.

Neither the Rangers, currently sporting the best record in the NHL's Eastern conference, or The Westminster Dog Show can take credit for that. Apologies to Malachy.

Brightcove may be a leader and pioneer in the field of on-demand video, but that only means the big guys will be actively trying to take your business.

The company is hoping to raise $55 million in an IPO expected to make its debut on Friday. It's looking to sell 5 million shares with pricing seen ranging from $10 to $12 each. The Cambridge, Mass.-based company does state in its filing that it expects significant competition, but doesn't name any names.

In its filing Brightcove states, "We will likely encounter significant, growing competition in our business from many sources, including portals and digital media retailers, search engines, social networking and consumer-sharing services companies, broadband media distribution platforms, technology suppliers, direct broadcast satellite television service companies and digital and traditional cable systems."
