Guy Adami thinks we are now in no-man's land, because the S&P 500 didn't trade up to 900 before it sold off.

Karen Finerman mentioned that a recent New York Times article might have scared investors. She said that if the big banks are forced to convert their TARP capital into common stock, it could lead to a selloff in the banking sector. Finerman also believes that some of the big banks will not pass the street test.

One thing that all of the traders at "Fast Money" agree on is that leading up to the stress test on Friday the market will continue to be extremely volatile. In volatile markets, traders can expect to see large swings both up and down in the most popular stocks. These large moves can create great trading opportunities.

Wells Fargo was another large financial institution to report earnings on Wednesday, but it posted a profit of about $3.1 billion excluding preferred dividends.

Trading was mixed on Wednesday, with the financial sector and General Motors closing largely down and stocks such as Ford, which received an upgraded from Goldman Sachs to buy, and Apple, which reported a better-than-expected quarter, closing higher.

Guy Adami thought the market was set to go lower on Tuesday, but he was surprised to see the move up after the sharp selloff on Monday. He continues to make it clear that he sees the S&P 500 heading to 900.

Tim Seymour thinks the strength in the markets is due to investors wanting to be long going into the quarter end, which is known as "window dressing." The crew was also surprised to see the stock market rebound after President Obama removed General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner, which is unprecedented action in American history.

But an investor with a large economic position in the company can hold the company accountable by turning to shareholder activism as a way to increase shareholder value.

Despite the worst bear market since the 1930s, activist investors such as Warren Buffett, Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capital Management and Carl Icahn by all accounts are still finding attractive valuations both on the long and short sided of the equity market.
