See Below Earnings Calendar The third-quarter earnings reporting season, now into its third and final week, has been one of the most crucial in recent memory. Rarely have investors been more nervous about the level of valuations in the stock market, particularly among those formerly highflying tech stocks that still sport relatively rich price-to-earnings ratios.

There's been a full raft of tech stocks and others issuing earnings warnings in the last couple of weeks, trying to blunt the impact of their upcoming shortfalls.

Loral Space & Communications beat Wall Street's expectations for the third quarter, but the company's loss widened from a year ago as Globalstar hit the bottom line.

The satellite-technology company lost $80.7 million, or 33 cents a share, including a one-time insurance recovery and a loss of $89 million, or 30 cents a share, from its Globalstar activities. The company lost $12.5 million, or 8 cents a share, in the same period last year, including Globalstar. Five analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial called for a third-quarter loss of 59 cents a share....
