Amdocs Misses Estimates

SAN FRANCISCO -- Amdocs'(DOX Quote - Cramer on DOX - Stock Picks) fourth-quarter earnings report fell short of the Street's revenue and guidance expectations Wednesday.

The Chesterfield, Mo.-based communications software company, said revenue of $726.7 million was up 9% from $665.4 million in the same quarter of last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting a top line of $730.6 million.

Net income was $96.2 million, or 43 cents a share, from $76 million, or 35 cents a share, in the same quarter of last year.

Excluding items, the company posted earnings per share of 54 cents, in line with analysts' expectations.

Amdocs said first-quarter revenue would range between $735 million and $745 million, below analysts' projections for a bottom line of $753.8 million. The company expects EPS, less items, to be 55 cents to 57 cents, in line with analysts' expectation of 56 cents.

For fiscal 2008, the company estimates revenue will be $3.05 billion to $3.15 billion, and EPS, less items, will be $2.29 to $2.39.

In after-hours trading the stock was down 21 cents, or 0.6 percent, at $34.19.
